A firefighter was burned in a basement fire that broke out inside a home in Bergenfield early Tuesday morning, Feb. 10, the fire department said. At 5:02 a.m., emergency crews were sent to 107 Roosevelt Ave., after a report of smoke inside the residence, officials said. When responders arrived, they saw smoke coming from the outside of the home and confirmed the fire had started in the basement. A working fire was declared as crews began battling the flames.
